Railway Safety for Kids

LESSON OVERVIEW

When the gate goes down, don’t go around

When the railroad crossing gate goes down, it is never safe to go around. The flashing lights and ringing bells mean a train is coming and it is not safe to be on or near the tracks. It is not safe to play on the train tracks because trains move fast and it can take a train over a mile to stop. Don’t put anything on the track because if a train rolls over the object, it could fly off the tracks as fast as a bullet and hurt someone.
