Spring Safety: Out & About with Lil’ Iguana

Lil' Iguana's Tip of the Week

Spring is here, and that means longer days, warmer weather, and plenty of time to play outside! Bikes, scooters, playgrounds, and neighborhood adventures are exciting ways for kids to explore the world, make friends, and stay active. While outdoor fun is important, it’s also a great time to review some key safety rules.

Talk About Rules Before You Go

Parents & guardians, before your kids head outside, talk about:

  • How far they can ride their bike or scooter

  • Where it’s safe to play around the house or neighborhood

  • What time they need to come home

Knowing these rules helps kids feel confident and safe while exploring.

Remember the Lil’ Iguana Safety Lessons

What to Do If Your Harm Alarm Goes Off

If something feels wrong or someone tries to take you somewhere without permission:

  1. Run, run, run as fast as you can.

  2. Yell loudly: “I don’t know this person!” or “This isn’t my mom!” so others nearby know you need help.

  3. Tell a trusted adult, like your mom or dad, teacher, or a police officer, what happened.

Explore Safely and Confidently

Lil’ Iguana wants every child to enjoy outdoor adventures without fear. By following the rules, listening to your Harm Alarm, and practicing Run, Run, Run, Yell & Tell, kids can safely explore their world, have fun, and build confidence at the same time.

💡 Lil’ Iguana Tip: Turn safety practice into a game! Role-play what to do if your Harm Alarm goes off so your child knows exactly what steps to take.
