Winter Colds, No Way!

Lil' Iguana's Tip of the Week

Keep Germs Away with Lil’ Iguana’s Handwashing Lesson

Winter is full of fun like snow days, indoor play, and cozy family time, but it’s also prime time for colds and sniffles. At Lil’ Iguana, we want to make sure kids are building strong bodies and sharing smiles, not germs! That’s why our I Wash My Hands lesson is so important.

Why Handwashing Matters

Washing your hands properly is one of the best ways to stay healthy. Germs spread quickly, especially when kids are playing, eating, or spending time with friends and family. Teaching children to wash their hands helps them take control of their health while keeping everyone around them safe.

How to Wash Your Hands the Lil’ Iguana Way

  • Wash for 20 seconds or more. You can sing your favorite song to help keep track of the time!

  • Use warm water and soap, scrubbing:

    • Tops and bottoms of hands

    • Between fingers

    • Around wrists and nails

  • Wash before and after eating, after playing outside, and after playing with toys or pets.

  • Cough or sneeze into your elbow or a tissue instead of your hands to prevent spreading germs.

Lil’ Iguana Tip: Make handwashing fun! Let your child pick a song or create a handwashing routine with stickers or a chart to track their clean hands.

Then, check out Lil’ Iguana’s I Wash My Hands lesson to teach kids proper handwashing techniques and build strong bodies this winter. Healthy habits today keep smiles shining tomorrow!
