Sugar Cookie Two Ways

What a sweet day! It\’s National Sugar Cookie Day. Lil\’ Iguana baked sugar cookies two ways for his friends. Today\’s holiday is very easy to celebrate. Sugar cookies disappear quickly once they come out of the oven and are simple to make. Whether you eat cookies with milk or without, below is a recipe to enjoy.

Ingredients:

\"\"
  • 1.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup white sugar
  • 1/2 egg
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Jam (examples: strawberry, crushed pineapple)
  • Sprinkles for decoration

Directions:

Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). In a small bowl, stir together flour, baking soda, and baking powder. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until smooth. Beat in egg and vanilla. Gradually blend in the dry ingredients.

\"\"

Option one is to place the cookies in cupcake tin and place jam or crushed fruit in between the cookie.

\"\"

You can also place the jammed filled cookies on a baking sheet instead of a cupcake pan.

\"\"

Option two is to keep things simple and roll out the dough…

\"\"

…then cut out into fun shapes.

\"\"

Bake 8 to 10 minutes in the preheated oven, or until golden.

\"\"

Let stand on cookie sheet to cool on wire racks before serving.
